I've had the privilege of working with an incredible team of students and researchers during my postdoc at Penn State. I was hired to synthesize a data set from a long-term (12 year!) cover crop diversity study. Cover cropping is a sustainable agriculture practice meant to hold soil in place during a non-cash crop period as well as provide ecosystem services to fields.

My first paper from this project compared different versions of the study over time, as cover crop species were swapped out to try to better balance the experimental design. A forthcoming paper will examine how the cover crop species interacted when planted in multi-species mixtures and how they responded to environmental variation over the years.
